We want to offer a fun, easygoing market experience to all who visit.Please be mindful of the hard work our vendors put into their wares. Bartering, haggling, and trading are perfectly acceptable and even encouraged, but don't guilt-trip, demand, or demean vendors to get the price you want. When in doubt, ask yourself whether the interaction is fun for both parties involved. Always feel free to touch base with others OOC if you're unsure.If you have questions for individual vendors (e.g., What are you selling this week? How long will you be at the market?), you can message them in Discord before the event - but asking to see their “catalog” in-game works as well.If someone at the venue is making you uncomfortable, don't hesitate to reach out to a manager, either through Discord or in tells. They are here to facilitate interactions within the venue and make sure it remains a safe and welcoming environment.

Bartering 101
We know many people haven't had the opportunity to barter and haggle before, so we've provided a brief outline of the basics as they are relevant to the venue.The Counter OfferWhen a vendor offers you a price for their goods, you can come back with an offer of your own. There are several types of counter-offers:1) The lower price. This one is straightforward, but offers little incentive for your trading partner to agree unless they're under pressure to move product quickly. Most vendors will respond with a counteroffer of their own that meets somewhere in the middle.2) Sweeten the pot. If you have something the vendor might want (e.g. materia, crafting mats, food), you can offer to throw it in if they give you a better deal.3) Buy in bulk. Most vendors will be more willing to sell at a lower price if you buy more units of the product. You'll usually get a better price per unit when buying a stack of 99 than when buying a stack of 10.TradingNo gil in your pockets? No problem. Many vendors are willing to trade goods. If you have a mount, minion, furnishing, or other item the vendor is interested in, you can bypass currency altogether.Walking awayIf you can't come to an agreement, it is always fine to walk away from the table. There will always be future opportunities to haggle and trade.Some vendors may have chosen to opt out of the barter system in roleplay, so if they tell you their prices are non-negotiable, please respect that! Conversely, vendors should be transparent and polite when indicating whether they are open to negotiation.

Known in the company as "Ophie's Husband" or "Mr. Stormslayer" to some, Art specializes in negotiations and dealing with the many ongoing diplomacy-related logistics that happen in The Stormslayer Trading Company.Ishgardian born and bred, Art is one of the originating members of The Stormslayer Trading Co. and the Stormslayer Trading Empire as a whole. However, it was only in marriage that Art was finally free from his other obligations and free to, at long last, see the world, and he takes full advantage of it regularly.
